Virginia Abou-Awad
Virginia Abou-Awad is a Speech and Language Pathologist (CFY). She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Houston, and her Master of Science degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from New York University. Virginia began her professional life as a teacher in Houston, Texas and taught an interdisciplinary IB 5th grade class for 5 years. She loved her students so much she still keeps in communication with them! She thoroughly enjoys working with children because she feels she is a child at heart, and that we all learn through play. Additionally, Virginia is bilingual and fluent in Arabic.
Virginia has worked with a variety of individuals with mild to severe syndromes and disorders. Through her graduate program, she had the opportunity to work in many different settings with a wide range of diagnoses. She has worked in a private school setting, private clinic, and at a rehabilitation facility providing treatment for traumatic and acquired brain injury. Her interests include traumatic brain injuries, neurogenic communication disorders, and fluency disorders.
Virginia is a Houston native and takes great pride in her city. She enjoys cooking, traveling, playing tennis, and trying new restaurants in her spare time. She believes everyone deserves a voice, and every win no matter how small is still a win and should be celebrated!
